Registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine and the Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia since 2008 for Forest-steppe, Polissya and the fifth region of the Russian Federation.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety type is silica-toothed (ssp. semidenta). Plant height 280-290 cm. Ear attachment height 97-102 cm. Leaf number 16-17. Ear length 24-26 cm. Row number of kernels 16-18. Grain yield 82-84%. Ear stalk is red. 1000 kernel weight 300-305 g.
Biological characteristics. Medium-early maturity group FAO 270. Duration from emergence to full maturity 108-110 days. Early growth is rapid. Cold resistance is high. Drought resistance is high. Resistance to lodging is high. Resistance to ear drooping is high. Resistance to airborne smut is high. Resistance to bubble smut is high. Resistance to stalk rot is high. Resistance to corn borer is high.
Agronomic characteristics. Potential grain yield 10.0-10.3 t/ha. Recommended plant density for Forest-steppe 60-65 thousand/ha, for Polissya — 65-70 thousand/ha. Harvest moisture 22-25%. Potential green mass yield 50.0-51.0 t/ha. Dry matter content in green mass 32-34%. Protein content in grain 10.2%. Starch content 72.0%.
Hybrid seed production is conducted on sterile M-type basis by full restoration scheme without ear tip removal. Sterility of maternal form 99-100%. Optimal planting scheme of parental forms on hybridization plots 12:4; 6:2. Yield of conditioned seeds under high agronomic practices reaches 2.0-2.5 t/ha.
