Description Castelli CS
CS 2290 ® is a mid-early simple hybrid of maize (Zea mays L.) included in the State Register for the Central Chernozem and North Caucasus regions of Russia. The vegetative period of the hybrid ranges from 111 to 121 days depending on the region. The plant features a high growth form and broad leaves with weak anthocyanin coloring. Flowering occurs in early-to-mid terms, and the ear is cylindrical with a short stalk and medium thickness. The grain is dent-shaped, with a yellow-orange upper part and yellow lower part, and 1000-grain weight is 300-320 grams. The Castelli CS hybrid is characterized by high yield: in the Central Chernozem region, the average grain yield reached 81.9 centners per hectare, 18.7% higher than the standard, and in the North Caucasus region — 64.9 centners per hectare, 21.1% above the standard. The maximum yield was recorded in the Lipetsk region and amounted to 137.1 centners per hectare. The grain moisture at harvest is at an optimal level — 27.5% and 21.6% respectively by regions, which facilitates good storage and processing. Castelli CS is suitable for grain cultivation in moderate climate regions and demonstrates resistance to adverse conditions. Its characteristics make this hybrid attractive to farmers aiming for high and stable yields. The plant has balanced morphological traits, ensuring good adaptation and productivity in various soil-climate conditions.
