Corn hybrid Kakhovskiy is one of the popular mid-season varieties developed by NAAN of Ukraine. This variety is distinguished by high productivity and resistance to various adverse conditions, making it suitable for cultivation in different regions of the country. The medium maturity period allows effectively using this variety in agrotechnical systems with different climatic features.
The variety Kakhovskiy takes particular importance when grown under irrigation conditions in the Southern Steppe of Ukraine, where natural-climatic conditions favor obtaining high yields. Due to the sum of effective temperatures and the long frost-free period, corn of all maturity groups from FAO 150 to 700 can be grown here. The presence of irrigation reduces the risk of yield loss due to drought and allows obtaining stable and high yields of grain, reaching 11–12 tons per hectare. Moreover, corn production in this region is cheaper due to lower costs for drying cobs.
To fully realize the genetic potential of the variety Kakhovskiy, it is important to apply optimal agrotechnical practices, including proper sowing dates and optimal plant density taking into account irrigation conditions. Modern corn hybrids, including Kakhovskiy, possess valuable biochemical characteristics and are adapted to specific soil-climatic conditions of the Southern Steppe. Implementation of advanced cultivation technologies contributes to maximum utilization of their potential, which is of great importance for enhancing crop efficiency in the region.
