Description CASCADE 195 SV
Corn Cascade 195 SV is an early-maturing trihybrid with FAO 190, developed at the Voronezh branch of the VNIIC. Plants are tall, reaching 240–260 cm, well-branched with approximately 15 leaves on the main stem. The ear is medium length (20–25 cm), weakly conical, fully covered by husks, with yellow, cream-colored, toothed kernels weighing 260–290 g per 1000 kernels. The hybrid has high pollen production, a straight and strong stem, and resistance to stem breakage below the ear, ensuring reliability during the vegetative period. Cascade 195 SV has high cold tolerance and moderate drought resistance, making it suitable for various climatic conditions in the Central Chernozem, Volga-Vyat, Middle Volga, and West Siberian regions. It is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis and ear bacterial diseases, and is lightly affected by corn stalk borer. It exhibits high genetic potential for both grain and silage productivity, with grain yields of approximately 63.3 centners per hectare in the Central Chernozem region and silage mass up to 850 centners per hectare, with normalized dry matter up to 250 centners per hectare. Cascade 195 SV is versatile and suitable for cultivation for both grain and silage. The hybrid responds well to fertilizer application, with optimal rates of at least N120P60K60. The recommended plant density for grain harvest is 60,000 per hectare in steppe and 70,000 per hectare in forest-steppe zones, and for silage — 70,000 and 80,000 per hectare respectively. In the absence of fertilizers, density decreases by 5–10,000 per hectare depending on soil fertility and moisture availability. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Cascade 195 SV meets modern requirements for corn cultivation technology.
