Description Venzel
The hybrid sweet corn Venzel is a medium-early, simple-modified variety developed by the Ukrainian producer Maïs. It is characterized by high yields up to 144 centners per hectare even under drought conditions, making it an optimal choice for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe regions, including the Zaporizhzhia region. Venzel has a FAO of 280, yellow dent kernels with a cylindrical ear shape and 16 to 18 rows of kernels. Plants reach a height of about 240 cm, with ear attachment at 75 cm and average stalk strength, ensuring ease of harvest and resistance to lodging.

The agronomic properties of the Venzel hybrid include stable yield under water deficit, high resistance to stalk fly and bubble disease, reducing the risk of crop loss due to diseases. The hybrid exhibits vigorous growth during ripening, contributing to additional photosynthesis, and has average early growth rate, ensuring a balance between germination energy and resilience. Moderate kernel moisture loss reduces the need for additional drying before storage. Venzel has no restrictions on the use of sulfanilamide herbicides, expanding plant protection options.

The hybrid is adapted to resource-saving technologies with moderate efficiency, allowing effective use in systems with limited resource application. Recommended growing zones include Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe, with best results in Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. Venzel is a reliable choice for farmers seeking high yields of sweet corn under challenging climatic conditions.
