DescriptionPhoenix
Phoenix is a perennial timothy variety, characterized by an upright bush and a long, hairless stem. The leaves have a lanceolate shape, reaching 15–40 cm in length, with a width of 3 to 10 mm at the base and 2–8.5 mm further up the stem. The ligule is short with a blunt tip, while the inflorescences are long, of medium density, and awnless. The seeds are lanceolate and brown, and rhizomes are present, which promotes stable growth.
The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, capable of maintaining grass in one place for more than seven years. It demonstrates good green mass yield (up to 55%) and intensive regrowth after mowing, while low seed shattering ensures stable sowing. Phoenix outperforms the standard 'Rostov 31' in grain yield by 2.2 c/ha and has a purple grain coloration rich in anthocyanins, which enhances its nutritional qualities due to high antioxidants.
The internal composition of the grain is characterized by a raw gluten content of 38.1% and raw protein of 19.7%. Thanks to these properties, Phoenix is suitable for improving natural hay meadows and pastures in areas with unstable moisture. Its resistance to low temperatures and drought makes it a promising choice for agricultural use in various climatic conditions.
