Hybrid Clover of the PIONEER variety is a two-cut variety of pink clover bred by the FNC 'VIK named after V.R. Williams' and included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements since 1979. This variety is characterized by early maturity with a vegetative period of 5 to 70 days, which is 15 days earlier than the Marusinski 488 variety. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 2.5 to 2.8 grams, indicating high-quality seed material. Dry matter yield reaches up to 10 tons per hectare, and seed yield reaches up to 350 kilograms per hectare, making this variety attractive for agricultural use.
PIONEER possesses high winter hardiness, which allows for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Volga-Vyatka region with such territories as the Kirov region, the Republic of Mari El, the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Perm region, the Sverdlovsk region, the Udmurt Republic, and the Chuvash Republic. The variety demonstrates a moderate level of infection by clover anthracnose and a low level of infection by anthracnose, indicating its resistance to main pests and diseases. The recommended sowing rate is 6-8 kg per hectare.
In addition, PIONEER clover can be used as a lawn covering due to its ability to form a dense bright green cover. This low-growing legume plant adapts well to almost all soil types, does not require frequent watering or the use of fertilizers or pesticides. Clover is resistant to high and low temperatures, is not damaged by diseases and pests, and also quickly recovers after cutting, which makes it an excellent choice for greening courtyards, flower beds, alleys, and parks.
