Clover Rivendel

Engineering the Perfect Turf

The Rivendell white clover from the Danish breeding company DLF is not merely an ornamental plant; it is a high-tech breeding product engineered to develop a dense, resilient turf cover. The core strength of this variety lies in its optimized plant architecture.

Biological Potential and Resilience

The selection process for Rivendell focused on ensuring high survivability in temperate climates. Integrating this variety into lawn mixtures offers several critical engineering advantages:

• Mechanical Strength: Its fibrous root system and rapid regrowth capacity allow Rivendell to recover quickly after intensive trampling, making it an optimal solution for parks and residential lawns.
• Phytosanitary Resistance: The variety's genetic base includes enhanced immunity against Sclerotinia and Fusarium. This drastically reduces the risk of turf thinning during high-humidity periods when pathogen pressure is at its peak.
• Mowing Adaptability: With a plant height of 20–40 cm, the variety tolerates regular mowing perfectly, maintaining both its aesthetic appeal and the density of the sod.

Practical Utility and Ecology

Beyond its aesthetic traits, Rivendell provides significant ecological benefits. The high protein content in its biomass makes it a valuable component, while its active flowering provides an excellent forage base for honeybees. A seeding rate of 10–12 kg/ha ensures the formation of a lush carpet with minimal competition from other grasses in a mixture. Choosing Rivendell from DLF is an investment in a low-maintenance, aesthetically flawless, and healthy lawn.
