Description VIK 84
VIK 84 is an early-maturing tetraploid alfalfa (Trifolium pratense L.) variety intended for high-yield forage mass production. The period from the start of spring growth to seed maturity is 105–108 days, allowing for efficient use in agricultural cycles. The variety is characterized by good winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as resistance to Fusarium and Anthracnose, although it is susceptible to alfalfa canker. Average dry matter yield in growing regions reaches 70.3 c/ha, confirming its high forage value.

Alfalfa VIK 84 is a perennial plant of the legume family, possessing important agronomic and ecological properties. Thanks to symbiosis with nodule bacteria, it effectively fixes atmospheric nitrogen, significantly enriching the soil and improving its structure. The alfalfa root system penetrates deeply into the soil (up to 3 meters), facilitating the uptake of phosphorus from sparingly soluble compounds and preventing the leaching of nutrients from the plow layer. Additionally, after the decomposition of biomass, organic matter and humus are returned to the soil, enhancing its fertility.

The application of the VIK 84 variety is diverse: its green mass is used for hay, silage, pellets, and briquettes production, as well as for manufacturing high-protein grass flour. To obtain quality feed with maximum protein content, mowing is recommended at the beginning of flowering. Alfalfa is also a valuable honey plant, capable of producing up to 50 kg of honey per hectare. Thanks to its properties, VIK 84 improves soil physical indicators, performs soil protection functions, and contributes to sustainable agriculture.
