The "Donskaya" lentil variety belongs to medium-maturing crops with a vegetative period of 80 to 92 days, ensuring a convenient sowing and harvesting schedule for most regions. Plants reach a height of 32 to 58 cm, leaves have an elongated-oval shape, and flowers are small, pink or white with several veins on the inflorescence.

"Donskaya" is characterized by stability to lodging, shattering, and drought at the Donskaya standard level. Under field conditions, the plant is rarely affected by powdery mildew and ascochitis, making it a reliable choice for farmers seeking to minimize crop losses. The mass of 1000 seeds ranges from 25 to 38 g, while beans of medium size with a pointed beak and smooth surface ensure a high protein content – up to 30%.

The yield of the variety in the Rostov region is about 15–29 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching 31.4 c/ha. Due to its excellent culinary rating and high nutritional qualities, "Donskaya" is suitable for both industrial production and home cooking of lentil dishes.
