Lentil EN BELUGA

Crop Stability and Culinary Profile of EN Beluga

The 'EN Beluga' lentil variety from Ekoniva-Semena is a choice for those who seek a balance between agronomic simplicity and the high standards of the food industry. Field experience shows that this variety offers excellent seed uniformity, which is vital for efficient calibration and processing. The seeds are small and dark with a distinctive luster resembling black caviar, which gives the variety its name.

Cultivation and Harvesting Insights

Under field conditions, this variety has proven to be highly technological. The plant height allows the use of standard headers without excessive losses during direct combining. An important note for the agronomist: 'EN Beluga' is not prone to excessive lodging, which simplifies field operations during the ripening period. Seeding rates are standard for small-seeded lentil types, although careful attention must be paid to weed control in the early stages as the crop has a slow start and requires a clean field.

Culinary Performance

The main specialization of this variety is the culinary segment. Unlike larger lentil varieties, 'Beluga' maintains its shape during cooking without turning into a mush. This makes it a favorite among manufacturers of premium soups, salads, and side dishes. Stable demand from processors is driven not only by its visual appeal but also by its excellent taste, which remains consistent even after long-distance transport and storage.
