RUDBEARED

Rubibeared lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) is a mid-early variety distinguished by its high quality and bright rubied seed hue. The plant reaches a height of 20 to 63 cm, features a compact crown and linear leaflets, ensuring efficient sunlight utilization. Flowers are small, white, clustered in racemes of two to three, while fruits are small pods containing one or two seeds, convex and dark pink without patterns.

The variety is characterized by resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought at standard levels. The vegetative period lasts 84–102 days, and the mass of 1000 seeds is 35–36 g. When grown in the Saratov region, average yield reaches 29.1 c/ha, exceeding standard indicators for Pulse crops; maximum yield recorded was at 38.7 c/ha. Protein content up to 29.9% makes "Rubibeared" a valuable product both in culinary applications and as a feed additive.

Rubibeared lentil is widely used in the food industry: thanks to its bright color and good taste qualities, it is suitable for preparing side dishes, soups, and rice dishes. Additionally, as a legume, it fixes nitrogen from the air, making it an important element of crop rotation and enhancing soil fertility. Under field conditions during trials, no disease infestation or pest damage was observed, confirming the variety's stability.
