Description Dubovskaya Krupnoplodnaya
Introduced at the Dubovskoy Support Station of the N.V. NIIISKh as a result of crossing the Zhukovskaya variety with early cherry varieties (large-fruited Gorshkovskaya + Kentskaya + Krasa Severa) by breeders Korneev R.V. and Zhukova L.K. The variety was introduced into the State Register in 2006 for the Nizhnevolsk region.
Trees are bush-like, small; at 8 years old, they reach a height of 2 m and a crown diameter of 3 m. The crown is round and of medium density. The bark on the trunk has cracks and is grayish. Branches are curved, medium-sized, peeling or smooth, reddish, emerging from the trunk at nearly a right angle. Buds are located sparsely on branches, medium-sized. Shoots are curved, medium-sized, greenish, without hairs, with buds. Internode length is 25 mm. Buds are located singly on shoots, medium-sized, conical, brown. Buds are positioned at a 30° angle relative to the shoot. Leaves are medium or large, elliptical, green above, light green below. Leaf margins are wavy. Serration is toothed. Leaf blade is hairless, concave, curved downward. Leaf base is rounded, apex gradually tapers into a pointed tip. Petiole is medium-sized (20-25 mm) in length and thickness, green, pigmented. Glands on petioles are small, one, two, or three, round, purple. Flowers are large, bell-shaped, white, with 4 flowers in the bud, sometimes 3. Fruit set occurs mainly on one-year-old shoots.
Fruits are very large (5-6 g), round, red. The ventral suture is weak. Pedicel is long, medium thickness, attached to the mature fruit moderately. Fruit flesh is red, solid, tender, very juicy, slightly acidic-sweet, excellent taste. Juice is colored. Pit separates well from flesh, yellowish, oval, large. Variety is of universal use. Fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, compote, and jam. Fruits contain 13.46% dry matter, 8.41% sugars, 1.25% acids, 13.77 mg/100g ascorbic acid.
Self-sterile. Best pollinators: Rastunyia, Lyubskaya. Trees enter fruiting stage 3-4 years after planting in the orchard. Fruits ripen very early, in the second decade of June. Yield is good when planted with pollinators. Average yield over 6 years for 8-13-year-old trees with a root zone of 5 x 2 meters was 129.5 centners/ha. No damage from frost to above-ground parts occurred, except for fruit buds. No disease damage observed.
Advantages of the variety: small, high-yielding trees, good winter hardiness, and excellent fruit quality.
