Assol

The Assol cherry variety is a mid-early variety developed at the All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture and Nursery. The tree is of medium height, reaching a height of about 3 meters, with a sprawling, wide-rounded, drooping crown of medium density. Leaves are dark green, oval with a finely serrated edge. Fruiting begins in the 4th-5th year after planting, allowing for a harvest to be obtained quite quickly.

The fruits of the Assol variety are round, dark red, with an average weight of about 4.2 grams. The flesh is dark red, tender and juicy, with a sour-sweet taste and a pleasant acidity. The pit separates easily from the flesh, making the berries convenient for consumption and processing. The sugar content in the fruits is about 10%, and the acidity is approximately 1.3%, ensuring a harmonious taste. The tasting score of the variety reaches 4.7 points, indicating the high quality of the berries.

The Assol variety is characterized by good winter hardiness and resistance to major diseases, such as moniliosis and cockcomycosis, although these indicators are at a medium level. The cherry is self-fruitful, which facilitates cultivation and ensures a stable harvest without the need for additional pollination. Yield is high — on average 44.6 centners per hectare. The plant is undemanding, grows well on soils with neutral acidity, and exhibits resistance to adverse factors, making it universal and attractive for gardeners.
