The Shy cherry variety is a mid-late cultivar with dessert and universal use. The tree reaches a height of up to 2.5 meters, has a bushy form with drooping branches and a medium-density spherical crown. Leaves are large, wide, dark green, leathery and glossy, with a flat or slightly convex blade. Flowers are white, medium-sized, collected in triple inflorescences. The bark on the trunk and main branches is gray and peeling, branches depart at a large angle, shoots are straight and hairless. Shy cherry fruits are large, uniform, round-heart-shaped, weighing an average of about 4.5 grams. The main fruit color is dark red, almost black, with a delicate and smooth skin without subcutaneous dots. The flesh is dark red, juicy, delicate and cartilaginous, with a sweet-and-sour taste and dark red juice. The pit is medium-sized, free and easily separated from the flesh. The overall tasting score of the fruits is 5 points, which confirms their high quality and attractiveness to consumers. The variety is partially self-fertile, has good winter hardiness and relative resistance to fungal diseases such as cockle and moniliosis. Yield is high — on average 70.5 centners per hectare. Fruits contain 16.2% dry matter, 11.2% sugars, 0.86% acids and 4.8 mg of ascorbic acid per 100 grams of product. Despite low transportability, the marketability of the fruits is good. Growing the variety does not require special effort and knowledge, which makes it attractive for gardeners and farmers.
