Slastena carrot is a medium-late and mid-early variety with a vegetation period ranging from 120 to 130 days. The root crops have a cylindrical shape with a blunt or rounded tip, a length of 15 to 22 cm, and a mass of 90 to 200 grams. They are distinguished by a rich bright orange color of the pulp and core, which match in shade. Slastena is famous for its high sugar content (6.5-8.5%) and carotene content (up to 16 mg per 100 g), making it especially nutritious and tasty, as well as rich in vitamins of groups B, PP, C, E, and K. Thanks to these qualities, the variety is widely used for preparing baby purees, fresh salads, juices, and is also suitable for freezing, canning, and thermal processing. The variety is characterized by high yields — with proper care, one can obtain from 5 to 7 kg of root crops per square meter. The root crops are dense, juicy, practically without a core, do not tend to root branching, and are resistant to traditional diseases of garden crops, including bolting. The carrot foliage is dense and dark green, indicating good plant development. Slastena withstands transportation well and is distinguished by excellent storage life, allowing the harvest to be stored in a room with a temperature of +10-12 °C until spring without loss of quality. For successful carrot cultivation, Slastena recommends choosing sunny areas with loose and well-fertilized soil. The optimal sowing time is early spring (March-April) or under winter (October-November). A distance of up to 20 cm should be maintained between beds, and thinning should be carried out after seedlings appear, leaving 5-7 cm between plants. The best temperature for root crop formation is 20-22 °C. The variety is suitable both for home and commercial cultivation in open ground, including heavy soils, and does not require complex agrotechnics, making it an excellent choice for gardeners and farmers.
