Olenka

The Olenka carrot variety is mid-early maturing and distinguished by high yield and versatility in use. From emergence of seedlings to harvest, it takes approximately 85-100 days. The roots are slightly conical or elongated-conical in shape with blunt or rounded tips, measuring 10-16 cm in length and weighing 120-450 grams. The color of the roots is intense orange-red, the flesh is dense, slightly sweet, and rich in vitamins A and C, potassium, and iron, making it beneficial for dietary nutrition and industrial production of children's juices and purees.

Olenka prefers light loamy and fertile sandy-loam soils with good sunlight. Recommended predecessors for sowing are tomatoes, cucumbers, and early potatoes. The variety is highly resistant to pathogenic bacteria, rot, and greening, and also exhibits good storability — the harvest can be stored throughout winter at storage temperatures of +1 to +5 °C. Carrots germinate well at temperatures as low as +4 °C, allowing successful cultivation under various climatic conditions.

The Olenka variety is universally applicable: the roots are suitable for fresh consumption, salad preparation, hot dishes, and preservation for children's purees and juices. Due to its balanced slightly sweet taste and dense texture, it is popular among gardeners and the restaurant industry, where under-ripe roots are used as an alternative to baby carrots. The main harvest is collected in one single operation, simplifying the harvesting and storage process.
