Carrot Cardiff F1 is an early-maturing hybrid of the Chantenay type, developed by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden. The vegetation period ranges from 100 to 125 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The roots are bright orange, conical in shape with a blunt tip, 15 to 20 cm long, and weigh between 100 to 200 grams. The flesh is sweet and juicy, with high beta-carotene content (up to 18 mg), sugar (7-8%), and significant levels of vitamins and microelements, making this hybrid especially valuable for culinary use and processing into juices and purees.
Cardiff F1 thrives on loose, fertile soils with neutral or slightly acidic pH, preferably sandy loam or light clay, with deep plowing. For successful cultivation, avoid overcrowding, excessive moisture, and fresh manure, while ensuring moderate nitrogen and ample potassium-phosphorus feeding. Ideal preceding crops include potato, cabbage, cucumber, tomato, and onion. During the vegetation period, regular loosening, weeding, fertilization, and timely thinning of seedlings are required.
The hybrid exhibits resistance to major leaf diseases, including alternaria and powdery mildew, reducing the risk of yield loss. Seeds are treated with the fungicide Tiram, providing additional protection against diseases, and do not require soaking before planting. The tightly attached foliage allows for mechanized harvesting. Cardiff F1 is suitable for cultivation across all of Ukraine and is intended for long-term storage, fresh market sale, and diverse applications in the food industry.
