Canton Carrot — a mid-season hybrid of the Chantenay group, developed by Bejo Zaden in the Netherlands. The vegetative period ranges from 100 to 120 days, allowing the hybrid to consistently deliver high yields when grown in various regions and on different soil types even with standard agronomy. Plants feature a powerful upright foliage, which contributes to their stress tolerance and hardiness. The hybrid is distinguished by strong immunity to Alternaria and Cercospora, does not form bolting stalks, is resistant to pests, and is not prone to fruit cracking.

Canton Carrot roots have a bright orange color, a conical shape, and a short length, weighing between 100 and 200 grams and reaching a length of 12-15 cm. The fruits are characterized by uniformity, a small core, juiciness, and a sweet taste. The dry matter content in the roots is approximately 11-11.2%, while the BRIX level reaches 8.8%, indicating a high sugar content and excellent flavor. Due to these characteristics, the carrot is suitable for fresh consumption, storage, thermal processing, and canning.

The Canton hybrid is suitable for mechanical harvesting, which facilitates the harvest collection process and increases its efficiency. The recommended sowing rate is from 0.7 to 1.2 million plants per hectare. Thanks to the combination of high yield, disease and pest resistance, as well as excellent taste qualities, Canton Carrot is an excellent choice for cultivation for both the fresh market and long-term storage.
