Quench

Barley variety Quench — a mid-season variety developed by Syngenta, with a vegetation period ranging from 69 to 97 days. Plants reach a height of 60–65 cm and are characterized by an increased tillering coefficient, which contributes to high yields. The variety demonstrates good adaptability to various climatic conditions and is recommended for cultivation in the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe zones. The thousand-grain weight is 38–47 g, indicating grain size and quality. Quench exhibits high resistance to multiple diseases and stress factors, including lodging, shattering, black and powdery mildew, smut, downy mildew, various leaf spot diseases, rust, helminthosporiosis, rhiophorosis, fusarium, and root rots. The drought resistance of this variety is higher than that of varieties such as Vladimir, Sonet, and Ataman, making it a reliable choice for regions with variable weather conditions. The Quench variety is recommended for brewing barley production due to its stable and high yields, which can reach 7.0–8.5 t/ha. It responds well to early spring pre-sowing fertilization, and its extended vegetation period allows for optimal nutrient uptake. The variety is approved for cultivation in Russia and Ukraine, confirming its high quality and compliance with agricultural industry requirements.
