Description KWS Chrissie
KWS Chrissie is a spring two-row barley with dual-purpose use, characterized by high yield potential and excellent brewing qualities. The variety consistently shows high performance in various regions, including the central region of Russia and France, where it is recognized as the leader in yield among spring barley varieties. Due to its large grain size and high thousand-grain weight (44.9–54.1 g), as well as increased protein content (11.5–12.5%), this barley provides high protein output per hectare, making it popular for both feed and beer production.

The variety exhibits high resistance to major barley diseases, including helminthosporiosis, powdery mildew, net blotch, yellow rust, and rhiophorosis. Additionally, KWS Chrissie is resistant to nematodes of races 1 and 2, which contributes to maintaining crop health and reducing yield losses. Barley is medium-maturing, with good drought and cold tolerance, allowing cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe zones.

A distinctive feature of the variety is its excellent cultivation technology: high resistance to lodging, spikelet breakage, and stem breakage minimizes losses during harvest. The recommended seeding rate is 3–4.5 million seeds per hectare, which ensures optimal plant development and maximum yield, reaching 85–95 c/ha. For grain storage, it is recommended to maintain a temperature of +7–10°С and moisture content not exceeding 10%.
