Kws Irina

Wheat KWS Irina is a mid-season spring barley variety developed by KWS and recommended primarily for brewing purposes. It features a compact ear type and a vegetation period of 72 to 81 days. It boasts high yields, averaging 73-77 c/ha, with potential up to 90-100 c/ha, surpassing European standards by 4-9%. The 1000-grain weight ranges from 44 to 52 grams, and protein content remains stable at 10.2-12.9%, ensuring high malt extract and final fermentation efficiency.

KWS Irina exhibits high resistance to major diseases and stress factors. It demonstrates good resistance to leaf rust (9 points), powdery mildew (8 points), helminthosporium (5-8 points), dwarf rust (6 points), ramularia (8 points), as well as to stone spot and leaf blotch. Thanks to these traits, along with high tillering intensity and moderate plant height of about 65 cm, the variety shows stable yield and grain quality performance under high agronomic standards.

KWS Irina is recommended for cultivation in regions with adequate moisture, such as the Polissia and Forest-Steppe zones, and is registered in Ukraine’s national registry and most European Union countries. Its versatility allows its grain to be used for producing various types of malt, making it a new standard for brewing barley. Its high technological efficiency and extractability make KWS Irina an attractive choice for the brewing industry, ensuring consistent quality and high production efficiency.
