Galichanin

The winter barley variety 'Galichanin' is a high-yielding and versatile crop, adapted to various climatic conditions in Ukraine, particularly the forest-steppe and steppe zones. The vegetation period of this variety is 70-78 days, which falls within the medium-maturing range. Plants reach a height of 60-65 cm, have a six-rowed ear 8-10 cm long, pyramidal in shape with a transition to rhomboid, slightly drooping, straw-yellow. The grain is large, yellow, elongated-oval in shape, with a 1000-grain weight of 45-50 g and protein content of 10.5-11.0%. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to major barley diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, spot, black and sooty mold, and helminthosporium. In addition, 'Galichanin' exhibits good drought tolerance and stable yields even under adverse weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for intensive farming using modern technologies. For increased yield, seed treatment and mandatory fertilizer application are recommended. Barley 'Galichanin' is widely used in the food industry for producing grits, flour, and malt, as well as in animal husbandry due to the high quality and nutritional value of its grain. Its short development cycle and adaptability to soil conditions make this variety especially attractive for regions with a short warm season and various soil types, including light and moderately moist soils.
