POVOLZHSKIY YANTAR

POVOLZHSKIY YANTAR is a medium-early spring barley variety developed to achieve high and stable yields, as well as improved grain quality. The variety's vegetation period is about 66-72 days, which ensures early ripening and allows for efficient use in various climatic conditions, including the Middle Volga region and the central belt of Russia. The plants are medium-tall, with a height of about 50.7 cm, possess increased productive tillering and lodging resistance, which contributes to crop preservation and facilitates harvesting.

The grain of the variety is characterized by a high mass of 1000 grains — from 39 to 50 g, with a grain density of about 650 g/l. The content of crude protein in the grain reaches 12.5-15.2%, making it valuable for both feed purposes and the food industry. The ear is pyramidal in shape with a strong waxy bloom, which additionally protects the plant from adverse factors. The variety is resistant to various diseases, including loose smut, stem rust, helminthosporiosis, and root rots, which ensures reliable cultivation and reduces the need for intensive chemical protection.

POVOLZHSKIY YANTAR was created through intraspecific hybridization and passed multi-year trials in various regions, including Samara, Penza, and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as the Republic of Mordovia. The average yield of the variety during the trial period was about 2.98 t/ha, with maximum indicators up to 3.82 t/ha. Thanks to its drought resistance and adaptation to abiotic and biotic stresses, this variety is an excellent choice for farmers seeking to obtain high and quality barley yields.
