KHOZAN

KHOZAN is a mid-ripening variety of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), intended for both brewing and grain fodder use. The plant has a semi-upright or short-stemmed, medium-tall bush with strong anthocyanin coloration on the auricles of the flag leaf. The growing period lasts from 74 to 94 days, which ensures optimal ripening dates in various climatic conditions. The weight of 1000 grains varies from 39 to 57 grams, indicating the large graininess of the variety.

The variety is characterized by resistance to lodging and medium drought tolerance, which increases its adaptability to different soil and climatic conditions. KHOZAN is recommended for cultivation in a wide range of regions, including Central, Volga-Vyatka, Central Chernozem, Middle Volga and West Siberian regions, as well as in some oblasts and republics of Russia. The variety's yield varies depending on the region and can reach from 26.2 to 58.7 centners per hectare.

The protein content in the grain is from 10.7 to 14.4%, which makes the variety attractive for the brewing industry and fodder use. KHOZAN shows moderate susceptibility to loose smut and weak resistance to Bipolaris sorokiniana and covered smut, but may be susceptible to root rots.
