Description ALEY
The Aley variety of spring barley is a mid-season grain forage and cereal variety created by selection from a hybrid population. The vegetative period averages 79 days, allowing the variety to mature 2-3 days earlier than the Omsky 95 variety and 3-5 days later than the standard Biom and Acha varieties. The bush is semi-erect with productive bushiness, which contributes to high yield and grain quality. The mass of 1000 grains and grain naturalness (510 g/l) of the Aley variety exceed the indicators of the standard Signal variety, while the protein content ranges from 12.1-12.3%, making it valuable in terms of grain quality.

The variety is characterized by moderate resistance to loose-spike and powdery bunt, as well as weak susceptibility to hard and powdery bunt under artificial infection and on a natural background. Meanwhile, the variety is moderately susceptible to helminthosporiosis and susceptible to root rots. In terms of lodging resistance, the variety lags behind the standards Signal, Biom, and Acha by 0.5-1.5 points. Grain moisture is about 14%, and weed and grain impurities do not exceed 2%, indicating high crop quality.

The Aley variety is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and is recommended for cultivation in the West Siberian and Far Eastern regions. Average yield in the West Siberian region reaches 27.9 c/ha, and in the Far Eastern region—24.4 c/ha. Thanks to its characteristics and grain quality, the Aley variety is a promising choice for agricultural enterprises focused on producing high-quality barley for various purposes.
