MIP Protector

MIP Protector is a winter barley variety registered in the state register in 2019. It belongs to the nutans type and is characterized by a medium-maturing period, lasting from emergence to heading 58-60 days. The plant is medium-height, 75-80 cm tall, ensuring an optimal balance between productivity and resistance to external factors.

The variety is distinguished by high drought resistance, enabling it to outperform analogs in yield by 0.5-1.0 t/ha during dry years. MIP Protector has high resistance to lodging (7-8 points) and shattering (9 points), which helps preserve yield during ripening and harvesting. In addition, it is resistant to powdery mildew, leaf spot diseases, and dwarf rust, rated 6-8 points, providing reliable protection against common diseases.

The grain of this variety is large, with a 1000-grain weight of 55.7–59.8 g, and protein content ranging from 10.8–12.1 %. Its genetic yield potential exceeds 9.0 t/ha, confirmed by competitive trials from 2016–2018, where the variety surpassed the standard by 1.33 t/ha. Thanks to these characteristics, MIP Protector is a promising choice for cereal production in Ukraine.
