Barley Donetsk 12

Stable Yields in Short Timeframes

The “Donetskyi 12” barley variety is the preferred choice for farmers operating in regions with moisture deficits and tight growing seasons. Developed by the Donetsk Institute of Agro-Industrial Production (UAAS), this spring barley variety matures in 80–90 days, allowing for harvesting before the peak summer drought hits.

Practical Field Scenarios

This variety is a reliable “insurance” asset in crop rotation. Due to its intense early-stage growth, the crop effectively suppresses weed development in the fields. Farmers select this variety for:

• Cultivation in high-risk zones with unpredictable rainfall patterns.
• Minimizing fungicide costs: its high natural resistance to helminthosporiosis, rot, and powdery mildew reduces the need for frequent preventive treatments.
• Achieving consistent grain yields through standard mineral fertilization practices.

Special attention should be paid to the phytosanitary condition of the crops. The variety shows increased resistance to loose smut (covered smut) and root rot, making it a dependable solution for fields with high soil-borne pathogen pressure.

Agronomic Management

“Donetskyi 12” does not require unconventional farming practices. It responds well to timely soil moisture management and standard nitrogen top-dressing schemes. The low risk of stem smut and powdery mildew infection allows producers to optimize their plant protection budget, reallocating funds toward high-quality plant nutrition. If your goal is to secure predictable results with moderate production costs, this variety will prove to be a valuable asset in your agricultural portfolio.
