Barley variety Doridnyy is a cereal crop recommended for cultivation in various natural-climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Polissya, forest-steppe, and steppes. This variety has a vegetation period of 76 to 82 days and plant height of approximately 80-85 cm. It is distinguished by resistance to lodging and main diseases, contributing to stable and high yields. The potential yield of this variety reaches 8.0-8.5 tons per hectare, with protein content in grain varying from 13.1 to 14.7%, and thousand-grain weight of 44-48 grams.
Biological features of barley Doridnyy include studying the plant's life cycle, growth and development phases, as well as requirements for light, temperature, humidity, and soil. The vegetation period covers key stages such as tillering, stem elongation, flowering, heading, grain formation, and ripening. Special attention is given to differences in growth between winter and spring barley, enabling optimization of agronomic practices depending on the crop type.
Practical application of the Doridnyy variety includes use of mineral fertilizers and proper selection of preceding crops to enhance productivity. Studies show that application of mineral fertilizers before sowing significantly affects plant growth and development, as well as yield when grown after crops such as soybean, winter wheat, sunflower, and corn. These agronomic practices contribute to stabilization of grain production with high economic efficiency, especially in the Northern Steppe region.
