BIRYUCH

BIRYUCH barley variety, developed by FGBOU «Voronezh State Agrarian University named after V.V. Dokuchaev», is a medium-height short-stemmed plant designed for brewing use. The ear of this variety is of medium length, pyramidally-cylindrical in shape, with a waxy coating of weak or medium intensity, and long serrated awned tips have weak anthocyanin pigmentation. The grain is large, with a mass of 1000 grains ranging from 50 to 54 grams, characterized by high uniformity and protein content within 9.1-12.1%. The vegetation period is 76-84 days, making the variety medium-ripening. BIRYUCH is distinguished by high yield and resistance to adverse conditions. Average yield in the Central-Black Soil Region reaches 41.8 centners per hectare, while in moisture-sufficient areas it can exceed 80 centners per hectare, with a maximum indicator of 85.2 centners per hectare recorded in the Lipetsk region. The variety is resistant to lodging, drought, and also possesses field resistance to leaf diseases, powdery and net form of loose smut, and root rots, which ensures stable quality and high product yield. Barley BIRYUCH is widely used in agriculture as a valuable component for the brewing industry, and can also be used in feed rations due to high protein and nutrient content. To maintain grain quality, proper storage conditions must be observed, which prevents spoilage and reduces losses. Recommended for cultivation in the Central-Black Soil Region, the variety demonstrates excellent agronomic indicators and is adapted to local climatic conditions.
