Spring barley variety Elektra is a high-yielding agricultural crop intended for grain production using intensive technology. This variety is characterized by high adaptability to various climatic conditions, enabling successful cultivation across the entire territory of Ukraine. Elektra is medium-maturing, with plant height averaging 70–80 cm, up to 100 cm maximum, resistance to lodging and drought tolerance. Grain is large, with thousand-grain weight approximately 44–50 grams, contributing to high yields.
Growing Elektra barley requires adherence to optimal agronomic conditions, including sowing at soil temperatures of 10–15°C and moisture levels around 20–30% of water-holding capacity. To enhance yields, modern precision agriculture technologies such as GPS navigation, soil sensors, agricultural drones, and variable-rate fertilizer application (VRT) systems are recommended. These methods allow for optimized resource use, increased plant productivity, and reduced costs.
The Elektra variety is suitable for cultivation in various soil-climatic zones, including Ukraine’s Steppe, Polissia, and Forest-Steppe regions. It demonstrates high yield potential — approximately 5 tons per hectare on average, with potential to reach up to 9 tons under optimal conditions. Due to its short vegetation period and lower resource requirements compared to winter crops, Elektra barley is a profitable and efficient choice for farmers aiming for stable and high grain yields.
