Talisman

The 'Talisman' apple variety is an autumn variety created by crossbreeding the Redfree and Tetraploid Papirkova varieties. Trees of this variety are medium-sized with a round, compact canopy belonging to the columnar type. Shoots are thin and straight with smooth greenish-yellow bark, leaves are medium-sized, dark green and matte. Flowering is abundant, and fruiting occurs on ringlets, fruit spurs, and the tips of growth shoots. The variety is early-bearing, beginning to fruit as early as the second year after planting, which makes it attractive for intensive horticulture.

The fruits of the 'Talisman' variety are large, with an average weight of about 210-211 grams, of a regular onion shape with a ribbed surface. The color of the fruits at the time of ripening consists of a greenish-yellow background with a blurred and slightly striped bright raspberry overlay. The flesh is creamy, of medium density, juicy with a harmonious sour-sweet taste and rich aroma, which is rated at 4.8 points. The fruits have good transportability and can be stored in a refrigerator for up to two months, allowing for commercial use.

The 'Talisman' variety is characterized by high resistance to scab due to the presence of the Vf (Rvi6) immunity gene, as well as resistance to powdery mildew, drought, and frosts. It is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies and demonstrates high yields up to 37–44 tons per hectare. Despite the moderately pronounced alternate bearing, the variety is valued for its early-bearing nature, high fruit quality, and resistance to major diseases and pests, making it a reliable choice for horticulturists.
