SARS

The SARS apple variety, also known as Sira Sinap, is a winter variety with a late maturity period; its harvest is collected in October. The fruits of this variety are of medium size, weighing from 100 to 120 grams, and are characterized by a round-oval or truncated-conical shape. The skin is thin but dense, smooth and glossy, with a yellowish-white hue that becomes more saturated as it ripens, while the sun-exposed side is covered with a light pink blush. The flesh is white, dense, and juicy, with a pleasant sweet taste and aroma, making the apples ideal for direct consumption.

This variety is distinguished by high frost resistance and drought tolerance, allowing the trees to withstand cold temperatures and unfavorable climatic conditions well. The SARS apple is renowned for its ability to maintain high fruit quality during long-term storage—the apples can be kept until the next harvest without losing their taste, allowing one to enjoy fresh fruits during the winter period, from December to May. The best pollinators for this variety are Kandil Sinap and White Rosemary.

SARS is an old local Crimean variety, valued for its abundant yield, tree health, and longevity. Although fruiting begins relatively late, around 15–17 years, the trees compensate for this with high yields in the future. The fruits are well-suited for transportation and have a long storage life, making the variety attractive for cultivation in various regions and climatic conditions.
