The Gemini apple variety is one of the best late-season selections developed in France through mutation of the Early Red One (Erovan) variety and belongs to the Red Delicious clone group. This variety is distinguished by its large fruit size and high yield. The fruits have a truncated-conical, symmetrical shape with five distinct facets and are colored dark red, corresponding to high quality standards. The average apple weight ranges from 150 to 250 grams, and the flesh is dense, creamy, juicy, and very sweet with numerous pleasant flavor notes, making them especially dessert-quality. A greenish tint to the flesh adds additional appeal to the fruits.
The tree is medium-sized, reaching a height of about three meters, with a dense, rounded crown. The variety begins fruiting in the third year after planting and is highly productive. The apple tree is self-unfruitful, so for successful pollination, it is recommended to plant it near varieties such as 'Golden Delicious', 'Gala', 'Aidar', 'Granny Smith', or 'Fuji'. Harvest maturity occurs about ten days earlier than the Golden Delicious variety.
The fruits store well in ordinary conditions until January, and under special storage conditions, the storage period can reach six months. The variety has good transportability and attractive market appearance, making it in demand for both home gardens and commercial cultivation. Gemini is excellent for growing in the climatic conditions of Ukraine, combining high fruit quality with stable yield.
