Apple RED JONAPRINCE

Practical Growing Experience: RED Jonaprince

For an agronomist managing an intensive orchard, the RED Jonaprince variety from 'Plodoobyedineniye Sady Stavropolya' offers predictable results when managed with a rigorous technological approach. The variety shows excellent adaptability to climatic stress and robust winter hardiness, which is vital for minimizing losses during the off-season.

Biology and Canopy Management

Managing the vigorous growth of these trees is straightforward due to their naturally well-formed broad-pyramidal or rounded crowns. The internal light penetration ensures the development of an intense, deep-red blush that is highly sought after in the commercial market. With proper pruning, the canopy remains open, simplifying maintenance and harvesting.

Phytosanitary Resistance

One of the core strengths of RED Jonaprince is its balanced resistance to common pathogens. Under a standard plant protection program, the variety effectively resists:

• Apple Scab;
• Mycosphaerella leaf spot;
• Powdery mildew;
• Brown spot.

This allows for a reduction in fungicide applications compared to more sensitive varieties, directly optimizing production costs.

Fruit Characteristics

At maturity, the fruit weighs between 200 and 250 grams. Its elongated-round-conical shape makes the apple visually appealing for retail, while the creamy flesh offers excellent flavor profiles while maintaining the firmness required for shipping. Consistent sizing and uniform coloration streamline sorting and pre-sale preparation, minimizing wastage during handling.
