Geizer

The Geyer apple variety is an early-winter columnar variety bred from the cross of Karposkoye and Charlotte varieties. The tree is medium-sized with a columnar canopy, reaching a height of up to 3 meters and a width of about 0.5 meters. The shoots are thick, growing sparsely, with elliptical, green, and matte leaves positioned close together. This variety is characterized by an early onset of fruiting, which occurs in the third to fourth year after planting, and a lack of periodicity in yield. Geyer apple fruits are large, averaging 180-200 grams in weight, uniform, round-flat with barely visible ribs. Their color is green with a dark red skin blush and faintly visible subcutaneous dots. The flesh is yellowish, medium-density, firm, tender, fine-grained, and very juicy. The taste is sour-sweet with a pleasant aroma, receiving high ratings from tasters. Ripening occurs in the third decade of September, and the fruits maintain their consumer qualities during proper storage until February. The Geyer variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and disease resistance, specifically to scab and powdery mildew. It can withstand temperatures down to -40°C provided cultivation conditions are met. The apple tree has good productivity with yields up to 30 tons per hectare, making it in demand for intensive orchards and commercial cultivation. The columnar form and low-maintenance care allow growing this variety even on small plots with good lighting.
