Propagation is most commonly achieved through the division of rhizomes. The best time to carry out this procedure is in late summer or early autumn when the plant enters its dormancy period.
When propagating by seed, sowing is usually done in containers during the winter months. The seeds require a cold stratification period to germinate successfully once the temperatures rise in spring.
Rhizomes should be planted at a depth of approximately 5–7 cm in well-worked soil. Spacing should be maintained at about 20–30 cm to allow for the natural spread of the colonies over subsequent years.
It is important to keep the sowing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination phase, which can be somewhat erratic compared to vegetative propagation.
This species thrives in semi-shaded locations, preferably under the canopy of deciduous trees. It requires protection from the intense heat of the midday sun, which can cause premature wilting.
The ideal soil is loose, humus-rich, and well-drained. Heavy or waterlogged soils are detrimental to the rhizomes and will significantly increase the risk of decay during the winter months.
Leipzig Anemone prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil pH. Before planting, it is recommended to amend the soil with leaf mold or aged compost to improve structure and provide necessary nutrients.
The plant is highly frost-hardy and requires minimal protection in colder climates, provided the root system remains stable under a blanket of snow or mulch during deep freezes.

The primary threats include fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and grey mold, which are often encouraged by poor air circulation and excessive dampness in the planting area.
Slugs and snails are the most significant pests, capable of causing substantial damage to the foliage during the damp conditions of early spring. Barriers or hand-picking are effective control methods.
Nematodes may pose a risk by causing stunted growth and leaf distortion. Maintaining soil health and avoiding the introduction of infected nursery stock are the best preventive strategies.
Root-feeding larvae, such as wireworms, can damage the rhizomes if present in high numbers. Keeping the area free of weeds helps minimize the habitat for such pests.
Proper hygiene is vital; removing dead foliage after the season ends prevents the accumulation of fungal spores that could threaten the plants in the following year.
