Botanically, it features delicate, finely dissected leaves and characteristic elongated, beaked fruits that are typical of the Scandix genus. The plant typically reaches a moderate height, forming a leafy rosette during the vegetative phase.

It prefers slightly alkaline or neutral soil conditions. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established, but for commercial production, consistent moisture during the early vegetative stage is essential for yield quality.

In terms of usage, it is valued as a culinary herb. The leaves possess a mild, characteristic aroma suitable for seasoning dishes, similar to other members of the celery family like chervil or parsley.

Sowing should take place in early spring once the soil temperature consistently reaches 8–10 degrees Celsius. Early planting is vital to ensure the crop completes its vegetative cycle before the onset of extreme summer heat.
