The Vatan soft spring wheat variety is a mid-season variety with a vegetative period ranging from 76 to 96 days, ripening 1-2 days later than standard varieties. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect bush and a spindle-shaped, loose white ear with long awns. The grain is colored, with the mass of 1000 grains varying from 28 to 40 grams. The variety belongs to the lutescence group and is characterized by lodging resistance, as well as moderate susceptibility to powdery mildew and septoria. However, it is susceptible to loose smut and brown rust, and highly susceptible to powdery smut. Baking qualities of the grain are at the level of the Filler variety.
According to the results of experimental research conducted in the pre-Urals steppe zone of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Vatan variety showed high yield stability and economic efficiency of cultivation. Yield in the region averages 21.5 centners per hectare. The variety has a semi-intensive growth type, which ensures good adaptability to changing growing conditions and allows for effective realization of the region's bioclimatic potential.
Expansion of sowing areas of the Vatan variety in the pre-Urals steppe zone of the Republic of Bashkortostan is recommended due to its resistance to adverse conditions and stable yield. This variety is an optimal choice for agricultural enterprises focused on producing high-quality soft spring wheat with good baking properties.
