Winter wheat SULAMIT

European Breeding Expertise in Your Fields

Winter wheat "Sulamit" from the Czech company Selgen is a prime example of European breeding, focused on reliability and high yields under intensive farming conditions. The variety has established a solid niche among mid-early wheat types, allowing agronomists to effectively plan their harvesting campaigns while avoiding peak workloads and late-summer weather stress.

Agronomic Potential and Characteristics

Selgen is renowned for its meticulous approach to genetics, and "Sulamit" upholds this reputation. The variety features a high tillering capacity, enabling the formation of a dense crop stand even at lower seeding rates. Key characteristics include:

• High tolerance to major foliar diseases and fusarium head blight, which is critical for securing grain quality.
• Adaptability to various soil types, including regions with moderate moisture deficits.
• Excellent winter hardiness, inherent to Czech breeding, adapted to the climate of Central and Eastern Europe.
• High gluten content and superior baking properties, making the harvest highly liquid in the export market.

Why Growers Choose "Sulamit"

The primary argument for choosing "Sulamit" is predictability. Unlike ultra-intensive hybrids that require pharmaceutical precision in crop management, this variety is more forgiving while still maintaining yield potential at levels of 8–10 tons per hectare, depending on nutrient management. Selgen’s selection strategy aims to develop "plastic" varieties that efficiently utilize nutrients and moisture during critical growth stages, ensuring a stable yield even during spring temperature fluctuations.

Opting for this variety is a strategic move for farms that prioritize the balance between input costs and overall production profitability.
