Wheat Ormesson

High-Performance Winter Wheat for Challenging Environments

French breeding house Secobra Recherches S.A.S is recognized for its pragmatic approach to crop genetics, focusing on field productivity and resilience. The winter wheat variety «Ormesson» is a practical solution for agronomists aiming to secure yields in regions with variable climates and high humidity levels.

Field Performance and Disease Management

The core objective of utilizing «Ormesson» is to achieve consistent grain quality while maintaining plant health, often with reduced reliance on heavy fungicide programs. Developed in France, this variety boasts robust genetic resistance to several major pathogens, which is crucial for modern farming operations:

• Foliar Disease Control: High level of resistance to Brown Rust and Powdery Mildew, ensuring photosynthetic efficiency.
• Ear Health: Significant tolerance to Septoria and Fusarium head blight, protecting the ear structure and thousand-kernel weight even during prolonged wet periods.

Implementation and Agronomic Strategy

«Ormesson» is best suited for intensive cultivation systems where protecting the yield potential from fungal pressure is a top priority. The variety responds well to nitrogen management, effectively converting inputs into high-quality grain. For farm managers working in temperate or humid regions where the window for field spraying is often limited by weather conditions, «Ormesson» offers a strategic advantage by reducing the risk of disease-related yield losses.

By incorporating «Ormesson» into the planting schedule, growers can balance their crop portfolio, making their production cycle less vulnerable to adverse weather patterns and fungal outbreaks throughout the season.
