Wheat Stromboli

Reliable German Genetics for Your Fields

When planning a winter wheat season, the main goal is to minimize risks like winterkill and spring disease pressure. The "Stromboli" variety by KWS is a standout in this regard. It is a beardless winter wheat that performs consistently across various environmental conditions, making it a favorite for operators who prioritize predictability.

Field Performance and Handling

Standing at 90-100 cm, these plants are perfectly suited for efficient mechanical harvesting. One of the key practical advantages is its excellent lodging resistance. Even in wet, high-nitrogen conditions, the stand remains vertical, allowing the harvester to operate smoothly without losses from flattened crop zones. It is a "low-stress" variety that doesn't require constant babysitting.

Disease Management

For any field manager, the disease profile is the deciding factor. "Stromboli" is bred to withstand a wide range of pathogens, reducing the need for aggressive fungicide applications:

• High resistance to both yellow and brown rust.
• Strong tolerance against septoria and pyrenophora.
• Significant protection against cercosporella foot rot and fusarium head blight.

Knowing that your crop has this genetic shield allows you to optimize your chemical inputs and focus resources elsewhere during the busy spring season.

Yield and Economics

With a potential yield of 9-10 tons per hectare under intensive management, and a reliable baseline of 5-6 tons, "Stromboli" fits well into most professional farm rotations. It demonstrates excellent tillering capacity and grain filling. If you are looking for a reliable, high-performance wheat that delivers consistent results without unpleasant surprises at harvest time, this KWS variety is a top-tier choice.
