Winter wheat variety Poltavka is a versatile variety characterized by high adaptability to unfavorable growing conditions and reduced requirements for the agrofond and predecessors. This variety produces a high yield under intensive cultivation methods and a medium yield under conventional methods. Plants have a height of 85 to 100 cm, and the potential yield reaches 8.0–9.0 tons per hectare. Protein content in grain is 14.2–15.4%, thousand-grain weight varies from 39 to 42 grams. The variety is mid-early and recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones of Ukraine. Producer — National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine, registered in 2014.
Poltavka features a straight, dark-green plant with large, spike-like ears and a high number of grains, ensuring stable yield. Genetically fixed grain number in ears contributes to uniform grain formation, which increases the yield after processing. The variety exhibits high resistance to various diseases and stress factors, including lodging, shattering, root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew, with resistance ratings of 7 to 9 points according to respective indicators.
Seeds are packaged in 30 kg bags and available for purchase in retail stores. Wheat Poltavka is also used as a feed product. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance, this variety is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality yield under various climatic conditions.
