Wheat Shrek

Reliable Yields from French Breeding

The winter wheat variety 'Shrek' from Secobra Recherches S.A.S is designed for farmers who prioritize predictability under challenging climatic conditions. With a vegetation period of 280–290 days, this variety demonstrates an excellent balance between biomass development and high-quality grain filling.

Key Advantages

• High Winter Hardiness: Rated at 8 points, it allows for confident sowing planning even in regions with harsh winters where other varieties might lose plant density.
• Agronomic Efficiency: Resistance to lodging reduces the risk of losses during mechanical harvesting, which is critical for achieving the potential yield of 5–6 tons per hectare.
• Protective Potential: Genetic resistance to a complex of specific diseases (Verticillium, Phoma, clubroot) helps optimize fungicide expenditures by shifting the focus from reaction to prevention.

Who is this variety for?

'Shrek' is an optimal choice for farms seeking a 'golden mean': the variety does not require extreme investments in intensive chemical protection but consistently delivers a high yield when basic agronomic standards are met. It is a reliable workhorse for those who value European breeding quality and aim to minimize weather-related risks.

Despite its high resistance, it is important to remember that a yield potential of 5–6 tons requires strict adherence to sowing windows and basic soil mineralization. The variety is forgiving of many agronomic oversights, but it performs at its best in fields with well-managed soil fertility.
