SARATOVSKAYA 90 is a soft winter wheat variety created at the South-East Agrotechnical Research Institute. This intensive variety belongs to the group of relatively early-maturing varieties and is characterized by high adaptability, including winter hardiness and drought resistance. The plants are of medium height, 95-100 cm, with a semi-loose bush form and a hollow stem of medium thickness. The ear is cylindrical, of medium density with compaction in the upper part, the grain is red, elongated, egg-shaped, the mass of 1000 grains is 36-46 grams. The leaves have a weak waxy coating, which contributes to resistance to adverse conditions. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, which ensures crop preservation at high yield indicators. Saratovskaya 90 shows the best reactions to low winter temperatures with a low snow cover and is less dependent on the temperature regime during plant hardening. In terms of resistance to brown rust, the variety corresponds to the standards, and thanks to early maturation, yield loss is not observed. These qualities make it particularly valuable for the steppes of the Volga region and regions with severe winters. In terms of grain quality, Saratovskaya 90 does not lag behind the previous variety Myronovskaya 808, and in terms of gluten quality it even exceeds it, which allows using this variety both for the production of high-quality food grain and as an improver for grain with low gluten quality. The high technology of the variety is expressed in its stable yield, winter hardiness and excellent technological properties, which ensures its widespread application and demand among farmers of the Saratov, Volgograd and Orenburg regions.
