Wheat PRIDONIE

Engineering Approaches to Phytopathological Resistance

Winter durum wheat "Pridonie" is a product of advanced breeding by the ARC "Donskoy", focused on minimizing epiphytotic risks. In the climatic conditions of Southern Russia, where pathogen pressure is a critical factor, this variety serves as a robust tool for protecting crops against key fungal diseases.

Technical Protection Profile

• Stem and Leaf Rust: The genetic architecture of the variety is designed to block pathogen mycelium development, ensuring the preservation of the leaf's assimilation surface during the grain filling stage.
• Yellow Rust: The variety exhibits significant resistance, allowing farmers to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications without compromising yield potential.
• Stinking Smut (Bunt): Built-in immunity mechanisms virtually eliminate the need for additional seed fumigation against this specific pathogen.

"Pridonie" is classified as winter durum wheat (Triticum durum). This entails higher requirements for the agricultural background; however, the variety provides a stable gluten yield and excellent milling properties. The stability of the stem's morphological parameters minimizes the risk of lodging, which is a critical factor when implementing intensive cultivation technologies with high nitrogen fertilization rates.

The practical value of this variety lies in its "autonomy" against standard regional infections. By investing in "Pridonie," agricultural producers essentially hedge their crop protection costs, ensuring a predictable phytosanitary status of the field throughout the entire growing season.
