BELKA wheat is a winter wheat that is one of the most important food crops due to its high protein, fat, and carbohydrate content. Protein in the grain directly depends on soil fertility, especially nitrogen content, as well as trace elements such as sulfur, zinc, and manganese, which play a key role in plant metabolism. There is also an inverse relationship between yield and grain protein level, which is important to consider during cultivation.
BELKA wheat grain is widely used in the food industry. High protein content makes it particularly valuable for baking and pasta production. For baking purposes, a protein content of 14-15% is required, while for pasta products, 17-18% is needed. Additionally, alcohol and starch are obtained from the grain, and the by-products of milling and alcohol industries serve as nutritious animal feed. Straw and chaff have significant feed value, making BELKA wheat a versatile crop for both food and feed industries.
Wheat quality is assessed by several indicators, including grain nature, vitreousness, moisture, gluten content, and protein content, as well as falling number. In Ukraine, wheat is classified by these parameters, where the first class represents the highest quality, and the fifth class is intended for feed use. These standards allow for effective use of BELKA wheat in the baking industry and other sectors, ensuring high quality of final products.
