Corn of the Peso variety represents an important export commodity of Argentina, which, thanks to the favorable exchange rate of its national currency, has become one of the most competitive countries on the global grain market. In particular, the sharp devaluation of the Argentine peso contributes to lowering production costs and increasing the volume of corn exports. Currently, the price of Argentine corn on FOB terms is around $140 per ton, making it attractive to foreign buyers.
The Argentine government is considering measures to extend the preferential exchange rate for the peso for agricultural products, including corn, which will allow increasing the permitted export volume from 20 to 26 million tons. As part of this initiative, from July 24 to August 31, sales and exports of grain will be conducted at an exchange rate of 340 Argentine pesos per U.S. dollar, further stimulating the country's export potential.
Against the backdrop of active growth in corn shipments from Argentina, Brazil and the United States also compete on the global market. Brazilian corn exports reached a record 7.65 million tons, while FOB prices for Brazilian and U.S. corn are approximately $147 and $160 per ton, respectively. Thus, Peso corn is a key element of Argentina's agricultural exports, standing out competitively in terms of price and volume of shipments on the international market.
