Odisseo — a high-yielding spring wheat variety developed by European breeders of Societa Produttori Sementi Spa. This variety has a late maturation period, approximately 5 days later than Russian analogues, and exhibits high resistance to diseases, lodging, and adverse climatic conditions including drought and frost. The thousand-grain weight is about 41.7 g, protein content reaches 14.6%, and raw gluten content is 34.4%, ensuring excellent technological and baking qualities.
Odisseo demonstrates high yield, reaching 44.8 c/ha and more in various regions, with maximum yields up to 6.1 t/ha in state trials. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones, including the North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions, as well as the Northwest, Central, Central Chernozem, Ural, and West Siberian regions of Russia. Thanks to its ecological plasticity and good biological characteristics, Odisseo successfully adapts to different soil-climatic conditions.
For optimal cultivation, the recommended seeding rate is 450-500 seeds per square meter, with nitrogen fertilization applied in several stages: 30-60 kg/ha at sowing, 30-40 kg/ha during tillering, and approximately 30 kg/ha during heading. The variety is resistant to lodging and tolerates extended harvest periods, facilitating agronomic operations. Seed treatments with fungicides are recommended, as well as one fungicide and two insecticide applications during the vegetation period.
