Winter wheat variety Midas is an intensive variety with high yield potential, adapted for cultivation in central and northern regions of Ukraine, including Polissia and forest-steppe. This variety is characterized by early maturity with a vegetation period of 260 to 280 days and is suitable for sowing in mid-September or early October. High germination energy and stable yield make Midas a popular choice among farmers, with actual yields of 80–85 c/ha and potential up to 90–100 c/ha.
Midas plants are strong, erect, 80–90 cm tall, with large and well-filled grains. The grain has high quality: protein content exceeds 13.5%, crude gluten content over 31%, grain density around 820 g/l, and 1000-grain weight ranging from 42 to 50 g. The variety exhibits high resistance to lodging (average), shattering, and major diseases including powdery mildew, rust (brown and yellow), and fusarium, ensuring reliable yields even under adverse climatic conditions.
Midas is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, allowing successful cultivation in various ecological conditions. Seeds are supplied in 1-ton packages, untreated, with a seeding rate of 4.0–4.2 million germinating seeds per hectare. Due to its ecological plasticity and excellent baking properties, this variety is an optimal choice for obtaining high-quality grain with high product output.
